Dirk Brown served as director of the Faber Entrepreneurship Center at the University of South Carolina (USC) Darla Moore School of Business from 2011 to 2018. Dirk brings more than 22 years of experience in creating and leading technology companies and teaching entrepreneurism, free enterprise and intellectual property strategy. Dirk Brown is a seasoned technology executive specializing in the general management of organizations undergoing rapid change in operations, strategy, regulatory environments, market conditions, and product or service offerings. Dirk has extensive experience and domain expertise in education, digital media, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms, online system architectures, electronics, electrical components, semiconductor devices, and consumer products. Dirk spent 20 years developing and leading technology companies in California’s Silicon Valley. There he founded and led Neoconix, a venture capital-funded company that created electrical connectors and Pandoodle, a digital media technology company. Dirk’s strengths include general management, international business, corporate growth strategy, intellectual property strategy, manufacturing operations and supply chain management, strategic and technical marketing, licensing, joint venture formation and management, and corporate financing (including debt, private equity, and venture capital). Dirk Brown is currently leading the USC McNair Institute for Entrepreneurism and Free Enterprise. Dirk has a master’s degree in engineering and applied physics, an MBA and a doctoral degree in materials science and engineering. Dirk holds more than 35 patents in the areas of semiconductors, electronics and digital media technology.
